Launched by UF-AHA in 2020, Prepárate Caimán is a dynamic virtual professional development series designed to support UF students with essential skills and expertise. Tailored to meet the needs of students, the series covered a variety of topics that helped participants become well-rounded young Gator professionals. Previous sessions focused on leadership, conflict management, effective communication, and career planning.

The Institute for the Future of Education (IFE) Conference was held in Monterrey, Mexico, from January 28-30, 2025. At this conference, attendees explored many aspects of educational innovation which attracted educators, researchers, and policymakers from around the world.  Being one of the most important events on educational innovation in the Spanish-speaking world, the IFE Conference serves as a global platform for collaboration and sharing strategies to address challenges in education. Dean Marta Wayne welcomed the newest cohort of faculty and staff to the UF Virtual Exchange (VE) Training last month, commenting on the importance of their VE engagement to expand the accessibility of international education opportunities at UF. Sofia Portugal, a 23-year-old graduate of the University of Florida (UF), is a standout member of the UF International Council, offering a unique perspective shaped by her background and experiences. Last week, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs recognized the University of Florida for being one of the colleges and universities with the highest number of faculty and administrators selected for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. Danielle Arnwine is the Peace Corps Strategic Campus Recruiter here at the International Center. In her role, Danielle advises students interested in applying for the Peace Corps about the ins and outs of the process, including helping to match students’ degrees and experiences with the right volunteering program: “I conceptualize my role as a resource for students.
