The University of Florida International Center (UFIC) is committed to ensuring the integration of international students and families into the life of the University of Florida and the city of Gainesville during their time here.

Some of the services provided by UFIC for F-1 students are:

  • Processing and updating I-20s
  • Advising international students and staff regarding immigration compliance, visa status maintenance, employment eligibility, and acculturation issues
  • Offering workshops on employment and collaborating with other campus units to present workshops on cultural adjustment and other topics
  • Developing and conducting orientation programs for new students
  • Collaborating with other UF departments to increase the level of understanding regarding immigration issues and the role of UFIC services

In addition to immigration advising, UFIC also assists international students by:

  • Helping to navigate Social Security and driver’s license issues
  • Offering guidance on tax preparation
  • Supporting conflict resolution
  • Referring services provided within the university and the Gainesville community
