Water is a resource that is vital for life, but the quality and quantity of our water resources are currently under threat. Students will understand the basic concepts of groundwater flow, and its relationship to surface water, humans, and the environment and apply concepts to current water-related issues. By the end of this course, students will be able to describe the basic concepts of groundwater flow and its relationship to surface water, humans, and the environment, apply hydrologic methods, including potentiometric surface mapping, cross-section development, and data analysis, to assess water-related problems, and summarize, present, and discuss hydrologic information from scientific reports and the media.
