UF Advances Strategic International Partnerships Across Latin America

The University of Florida International Center is proud to advance its initiative to develop Comprehensive Strategic International Partnerships across Latin America. Through these select partnerships, UF aims to engage fully and reciprocally with institutions in the region—supporting student and faculty exchanges, joint degree programs, study abroad opportunities, and collaborative research across a broad range of disciplines.

With both longstanding institutional relationships and emerging opportunities for collaboration, Latin America was a natural focus for this effort. These priorities led a UF delegation to visit key partner campuses in Ecuador and Chile, building on existing connections while identifying new pathways for engagement.

As UF continued its international initiatives in Asia, a new chapter of global engagement also began in October 2025, when the university participated in the North Capital Forum as part of a special APLU delegation to Mexico City. During this visit, the delegation met with key ministries, as well as government and business leaders, to gain deeper insight into Mexico’s national priorities and the broader opportunities and needs across Latin America.

In January 2026, the International Center convened a delegation of UF senior leaders and faculty for a strategic visit to South America. The visit focused on deepening long-standing partnerships in Ecuador and Chile, cultivating new strategic relationships, and elevating the University of Florida’s global profile. Rather than centering on a single predetermined theme, the delegation tailored its engagements to local and institutional priorities, exploring collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence, agriculture, and the biological sciences.
